Using a combination of RSS feeds and VoiceThread I would provide the students with an opportunity to conduct critical thinking across current news events. I would post a video or image of a new issue on the first day of the week. I would also post a comment regarding the issue raised in the post. Students would then be instructed to connect with VoiceThread and respond to the issue on VoiceThread. I would also have my students subscribe to RSS feeds from 3 news sources with the intent that they would start posting their own VoiceThreads.
Collaboration across Networks and Leading by Influence.
Wiki
Students would all have a wiki membership assigned to them. Students would then be required to submit all their work via the wiki space. Further, the students would then be given the task of providing reflection to others within the learning group via the comments section in the wiki. Finally, students would be assigned tasks throughout the learning year that involved producing content in groups for the purposes of posting on the wiki.
Agility and adaptability.
Google Docs
I would look to have all students shift onto google docs for all of their “Office” needs. While google docs is not too dissimilar to the MS Office suite of programs, it seems that many workplaces and companies are shifting to google docs type applications for use in their firms. By having students adjust to the google docs environment, it see them adapting and adjusting to the coming changes in the workplace.
Initiative and Entrepreneurialism.
Sharendipity, Atmosphir and Sploder
Using a web 2.0 technology such as Sharendipity,Atmosphir or Sploder I would have the student produce their own video game. I would then look to have them complete a ‘sales’ presentation on their new video game using a presentation tool such as Viddix or PreZentit
Effective Oral and Written Communication
Looking at the tasks as already described, I see that this 21st Century Skill is accomplished through the participation in and completion of those activities.
Accessing and Analyzing Information
Again, tasks already listed above would more than cover students accessing and analyzing information.
Curiosity and Imagination
Xtranormal, Classroom Architect, Blender, Scultypaint, Wordle or Comicmaster
In delivering a VCAL program, I am keen for students to explore and discover new and interesting ways of producing evidence for assessment. I have found a heap of new and interesting ways for students to complete the assessment tasks. These tools include;
